The state comprises around 53,845 communities, out of which 32,562 are part of the central FRA network. Odisha is home to approximately 62 different tribal castes, with 13 of them belonging to Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs). As per the 2011 census, the state has approximately 9.5 million tribal inhabitants, accounting for 22.85% of Odisha’s total population. These tribal communities occupy nearly 35,739 square km of land within the state.
